Who wants to reopen these apartments so I can live close to the Bethany PD? And then invest in Bethany Main Street (that is within walking distance so I don’t have to drive a car!!)? Or (imagining) maybe I can invest in them myself – y’know rich dad poor dad style. There are 9 units… Maybe some of my family would want their own unit as well.
6716 ½ NW 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008
I want to start with a “kids club” at the above address (By Bethany Kids’ afterschool HQ – where the brightest minds get together to make all of this a reality), and then invest in a location for selling “take and bake” meals that Bethany HS kids (under the guise of school work study internships) put together with the younger kids during their afterschool program at the FLC center / floyd center (space provided by bethany first church of the nazarene and bethany public schools). I also want to research accepting SNAP (EBT) for the meals purchased by the parents, that should be possible so long as the food isn’t HOT.
I’m all over the place, just putting out there what I would love to accomplish if I had the network, funds/grants, and support.
After I got all of this going I would invest in some property on 23rd street. #23rdstreetrevitalization – We would run another location for the take and bake meals (but geared for another Bethany school district) here:
7132 and 7136 – 7132 for afterschool programming (making steam projects) and 7136 for selling and making take and bake meals
After that was done, I’d try to snag a vacant building (the Western Oaks Tower) to use as a techjOYnT (or STEAM project-based learning center) for kids. We would build 21st century job and life skills – not to mention entrepreneurs and critical thinkers. We would make it possible for kids to rent space to run the businesses of their dreams.
I’d also start a Bethany light rail that stopped at these locations:
Macrory park (or all parks in Bethany and Warr Acres)
Bethany Recycling Plant
Bethany Schools
First Church of the Nazarene
OnQue
Bethany Main Street Merchants
Ding
Bethany Library and YMCA
Westlake
I guess I just have a vision of making Bethany a FUN place for kids to play in after school with autonomy (so that parents can work fulltime gigs – if even just within Bethany, serving their children). I envision kids choosing their own path. Do I want to go to a park, or do I want to take a music course in the Western Oaks Plaza today? Perhaps they have choices that they fill their calendar with once a week or once a month, and they can go to these activities by use of the bus (if they don’t drive yet).
After all this is accomplished perhaps we can partner with Carlton Landing to create a similar take and bake student run business that serves Eufala/MacAlister area. Bethany hS students could go down every other week as part of the training program and get a small trip out of the deal!!
