I get so many ideas that I want to pursue. Maybe if I hash them out here – in an intentional way – I can make something happen with one or two of them one day.
I am still passionate about creating a true community table. A place where kids and adults work together with food to feed many in need. I would love to pursue it either in Bethany (middle class), or in Eufala (more low income) and Carlton Landing (upper class) operating out of an afterschool program. Each location would have a different role.
Kids would prepare the meals as part of their after school program, but would also play games and do homework. I think I would run it as: dinner.dnddaycare.com. Parents could buy the take and bake meals that would be cold so they could be purchased with SNAP. I think I could get a USDA food grant to support the mission as well (especially in Eufala where there is a food desert), but maybe I could also apply for something with some other foundations as well.
Maybe my friends here (or Hasboro) could also help me fund creating TTRPG educational materials for the program:
Beadle & Grimm’s Pandemonium Warehouse
If I ran both dinner.bybethanykids.com and dinner.dnddaycare.com, Bethany high school students would be in charge of running the operations (selling the dinners, putting together the meals with the younger kids, applying for grants, marketing, etc) and they would even get paid to do so. There would also be an opportunity for high school students to teach/play games with the younger kids (including DND). The low income kids’ families in the Eufala food desert would be the primary recipients of the take and bake foods. The kids from Bethany would get a chance to travel to Carlton Landing periodically as part of the regular operations, but also to experience a vacation (especially those seniors!!).
